Spatially Variable Precipitation and Its Influence on Water Balance in a Headwater Alpine Basin, Nepal

چکیده

The current knowledge of the spatial variability precipitation in High Mountain Asia is based on remotely-sensed estimates (coarse and temporal resolution) or data from sparsely-distributed rain gauges. However, as strongly affected by topography mountainous terrain, spatially varying resulting water balances are currently poorly understood. To fill this gap knowledge, we studied variation its impact balance a small headwater basin located foothills Himalaya, Nepal. We deployed ten gauges climate stations, spanning whole elevation range 700–4500 m above sea level (masl) for period four years. Our results show quadratic polynomial relationship between annual station elevation, which used to produce maps. performance elevation-based adequate closing while performances average Thiessen polygon method poor inconsistent balance. also demonstrate that one two at lowest substantially underestimate 2000–3000 masl provide significantly better estimate basin.

The influence of soil moisture on threshold runoff generation processes in an alpine headwater catchment

This study investigates the role of soil moisture on the threshold runoff response in a small headwater catchment in the Italian Alps that is characterised by steep hillslopes and a distinct riparian zone. This study focuses on: (i) the threshold soil moisture-runoff relationship and the influence of catchment topography on this relation; (ii) the temporal dynamics of soil moisture, streamflow ...

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

Balanced Acceptance Sampling+m: A Balance Between Entropy and Spatially Balance

Balanced acceptance sampling is a relatively new sampling scheme that has potential to improve the efficiency of spatial studies. There are two drawbacks of the design, it can have low entropy and some of the unbiased estimates can not be calculated. In this paper, such shortcomings have been addressed by integrating simple random sampling with balanced acceptance sampling. In a simulation stud...

Investigation on Climate Change in Meteorological Stations of Guilan Province and its Impacts on Water Balance

Climate has always been changing during the lifetime of the earth, and has appeared in the form of the ice age, hurricanes, severe and sudden temperature changes, precipitation and other climatic elements, and has dramatically influenced the environment, and in some cases has caused severe changes and even destructions. Some of the most important aspects of climate changes can be found in preci...

Precipitation Chemistry in and Ionic Loading to an Alpine Basin, Sierra Nevada

Wet deposition of solutes to an alpine catchment in the southern Sierra Nevada was measured from October 1984 through March 1988. Rainfall had a volume-weighted pH of 4.9, and snowfall had a volume-weighted pH of 5.3. Acetic and formic acids were important components of all wet deposition, contributing 25-30% of the measured anions in snowfall and, through analysis of charge balance deficits, t...
